Business in the Spotlight – SNI Hair Oil

In this series called Business In The Spotlight, we highlight Muslim owned or Muslim catering businesses who you may or may not know about and help you to understand the human story behind the brand.

SNI Hair Oil is one of the best discoveries I made in 2017 along with Millionaire Hair Mist.

Both are organic products and run by 2 successful but very different women.

Fun Fact – They’re actually really good friends now, despite technically being competition!

That’s why I wanted to get Sofia of SNI Hair Oil to be the next Business in the Spotlight to share the behind the scenes of her brand.

Sofia is a mother and research scientist who decided to start her own line of hair care products.

I love the fact that SNI Hair Oil was a gamechanger in the hair oil market.

Until this new discovery, I was pretty much a 90’s child with my Dabur Vatika Amla Hair (Who else is old and remembers that!) but in recent years had noticed it wasn’t doing anything to grow my hair.

This hair oil along with Millionaire Hair Mist changed my hair game.

I was very slowly going bald because I suffer from PCOS, and one of the symptoms is baldness.

Yeah, try dealing with baldness as a woman in your 30s!

I discovered SNI Hair Oil through Modest Street as she kept mentioning this brand on her Snapchat account.

Upon investigating further, I decided to invest in the product and Alhamdulillah I’m so glad I did!

Sofia started the business as she herself suffered from Scalp Psoriasis and could not use conventional products as she was pregnant at the time.

The products she tried didn’t last long enough or give her the results she needed, and since switching to organic products, she didn’t want to put a load of chemicals in her body.

Her training and career as a medical research scientist for the last 5 years means she knew how ingredients could work for or against each other.

I had always jotted down ideas throughout uni and work life but never had the time, money and drive to do what I am doing now.
Come Dec 2016 and enough was enough!
I sat down for hours at a time blending and testing.
You know you have done something right when 5 days later, you still have no scalp psoriasis and your hair frizz and loss has come down to a bare minimum. That was my drive. This had to be out there.
I had my contacts and got some safety assessments, challenge testing and fulfilled the other requirements of the EU cosmetics regulations.
Loads of paperwork basically.
Ran a test batch and assessed the results.
I expected results after say 2 weeks to come in but tester customers were getting in touch at a rapid rate with extremely good feedback.
I couldn’t believe it, well I could but wow just wow!
We officially launched stock to the wider public in April 2017 and we haven’t looked back.
We only wanted to be able to change some lives but we are now global.
In fact, our first few customers were from outside the UK.

Sofia had some major hurdles as she started investigating how to launch in the Christmas period of 2016 when companies are winding down for the year.

She found it a struggle but eventually managed to find the dream team who believed in her products and delivered.

That was the first hurdle, second and long standing was accusations once my company launched.

I had a lot of negative publicity from other women in similar business. It happens whether you are a small business like mine or a multi-million dollar Business.

There will always be people who will put you down.

Sometimes it’s your family, sometimes strangers and sometimes others in the same field.

It hurt but it made me stronger and more determined than ever.

Let’s put it this way, if I didn’t get the hate then SNI Natural Hair Care may never have come about.

It motivated me.

Sofia is not only passionate about her product, she is passionate about educating her customers all about hair care.

Her Instagram and blog is a treasure trove of information for people wanting to be informed about hair care.

She champions other business owners in similar fields, and always cheers them on.

Despite her hectic business, she’s still a mother and a wife, and yet finds time to answer the many Instagram questions, e-mails and other communications as well as running a successful business.

SNI hair oil is penetrative, absorbing and gets to the root of the problems.
It’s for all and can be used in many ways.
You can be someone who just wants untangled, glossy and healthy hair, or you can be someone with alopecia or gone through chemo and want to grow your hair back.
The only difference is you would use it more for growing your hair back and less for just maintaining.
Our ingredients mimic the scalp secreting sebum and are antimicrobial, antifungal and balances the PH of the scalp.
The results actually last too. Use it for a couple of weeks till desired results and then just top up once in a week or two.
We do 100ml Bottles but as it’s not diluted and the results are long-lasting (after continued use), it gets you through a couple of months.

SNI Hair Oil comes in a 100ml bottle which is absolutely huge.

As Sofia explained, it’s pure oil, it’s not diluted with other ingredients, which means it penetrates into the scalp, sinks in quickly and doesn’t leave your hair feeling greasy.

It also smells incredible, a very fresh lemony scent.

The ingredients are all-natural and include:

    • Olive oil

    • Castor oil

    • Sweet almond oil

    • Pomegranate

    • Jojoba oil

    • Vitamins A and E

    • Lavender

    • Coenzyme Q10

They are Vegan & Cruelty-Free products.

SNI Hair Oil is £28.50 for a single bottle.

Sofia has very kindly given my readers a discount code SAVVY5 to get a discount on the product.

I’ve been using SNI hair oil since August 2017, and I still have pretty much a full bottle despite using it 3 times a week since.

Now, if you share with other family members or friends, I can’t guarantee it won’t finish quicker, but you will get results!

Results don’t happen overnight so you may find you lose more hair, to begin with before it gets better.

Everyone’s hair and hormones are different so if it works faster for you than it does for your mum it’s all down to the individual makeup of our bodies.

For me personally, it’s worked in about 4 months as I suffer from a hormonal imbalance, but it’s made my hair grow, the hair itself is thicker and stronger than it was before alhamdulillah.

I would totally recommend buying this product if you’re looking to grow your hair or heal it!

Sofia has very kindly given a discount code to readers of Money Savvy Muslim which will last until 9th July 2018!

The code is SAVVY5 and will give you 5% off your order (it’s better than nothing!) and I’m not being paid to promote this so I make no money off this code.

Would you try SNI Hair Oil?

  1. Thank you for this review. I absolutely LOVE your ‘Business in the Spotlight’ posts! Yes, I am sure I’m going to buy both the hair products. Alhumdulillah, I have no hair problem but I’d like to make sure it stays that way buy using good products to nourish my hair.

PS: My UK shopping list is getting longer! Haha

    1. Thank you! Sometimes I do wonder if anyone reads them, but I do them for myself really.

Well, if you like them you can talk to the owners to see if you could become a stockist in Dubai as I know they’d be keen to expand their market to the middle east!
