Regina Fabs – Changing Desi Outfits One Tulle Skirt at a Time

In this series called Business In The Spotlight, we highlight Muslim owned or Muslim catering businesses who you may or may not know about and help you to understand the human story behind the brand.

Wajiha and I have known each other since I randomly found her on Instagram under the name “Just Jiha”.

I’ve always admired her style and the fact that she is half Pakistani and half Filipino but still very traditional as well as modern.

She’s always rocked her Desi clothes and been proud of both cultures, marrying them up beautifully.

I love her hair tutorials on YouTube and she describes herself as a “Hair Blogger” (who even knew that was a term!).

It’s kind of genius if you think about it, she only needs the hair on her head and some imagination to create wearable styles that she generously shares with us all.

When I spotted her wearing a beautiful tulle skirt in her latest posts, I asked her where they were from and then she revealed that she had started a Tulle Skirt company called Regina Fabs with her sisters!

THE STORY BEHIND REGINA FABS

We’ve always dreamed of working on our own having the freedom to do whatever we want, whenever we want.

In the Real World, you either work for someone or become an entrepreneur.

Regina Fabs SkirtsThe latter was more appealing to us.

Some of the people who inspired us to start our own business are Mimi Ikonn and Alex Ikonn from Luxyhair. We developed a business mindset through watching their videos which pushed us to finally pursue our dreams.
Even though we still have our jobs we are working to grow our business and live the dream.

Our business is all about clothing but mainly full-length skirts.

We want to help all kind of women to express their own style and be beautiful and stunning at the same time.

BUMPS IN THE ROAD

Every small business has obstacles on the road to success, so it’s important to acknowledge and share them.Regina Fabs Skirt Red

There were definitely some difficulties that we encountered and the main one was creating time to build the business while maintaining our jobs.

We learned that there are many aspects of starting and running a business. It can feel overwhelming sometimes, especially if you’re a small business.
During our journey of building an online store, we learned how to take one step at a time to work through the problems we face.

WHAT MAKES REGINA FABS UNIQUE?

Regina Fabs offer modest but fashionable clothing. Our full-length Tulle skirts are great to wear as a statement piece that can be dressed down or up, depending on the occasion.
You can go from a sophisticated look to the girl next door!
We are aiming to grow our business to offer and focus on a modern twist to traditional clothing.

THE SKIRT

The company is based in Manchester in the UK, so it came to me pretty fast after ordering.

I bought the skirt because of how beautifully Wajiha and her customers styled it with traditional Desi clothes on their Instagram page, and to be honest, I’ve always wanted to look like a princess!

The skirts are really well wrapped and didn’t suffer any damage at the hands of the post which is great!

Each skirt comes with a sash and an elasticated waist.

The waist size goes up to 18 ½ inches or 47 cm and the length of the skirt is 40 inches or 100 cm.

I’ll be honest, I had a bit of tantrum in getting these photos shot because we have such limited light in the winter and I have to wait till my husband is available to take outfit shots, but eventually, we got them Alhamdulillah (Good thing as it snowed all day the next day!)

I styled the skirt 2 ways, one with a Desi outfit and one with a shirt.

And then with a shirt for a more modern look:

HOW MUCH ARE THEY?

Each skirt is £35.99 and P&P is extra.

They currently have a 40% off offer when you sign up to their e-mail list which makes the price £21.60 per skirt, and with 6 colours to choose from, you really are spoilt for choice!

It’s probably one of the only things I could share with my sister because we’re two different sizes.

SHOULD YOU BUY?

It’s an innovative concept and something so different, if Tulle skirts are your jam, then this is right up your street!

My only concern is when you are plus sized like me, it can be a bit tight to wear for long periods of time and if you’re not careful you can trip over the amount of fabric, but if beauty is pain, lead me to the Regina Fabs skirt!

WOULD YOU BUY THESE SKIRTS?

  1. Thank you so much for sharing this post and for such a wonderful review!!! The skirt looks gorgeous on you! I think you reaching out to small businesses and sharing about them on your blog is very inspiring, keep up the good job! 😗

  2. Being a princess is almost every girl’s dream, so I think this tulle skirt is a brilliant initiative for the older girls (whoever said only little girls can wear tulle skirts?!). It looks so pretty when paired with a desi dress! Masha’Allah you look so pretty wearing them ❤️
